Africa Fintech Foundry (AFF) has concluded its 2026 Summer Tech Camp (Kids Innovation), a virtual learning programme held from 28 July to 28 August 2026. Created to introduce children and teenagers to innovation, artificial intelligence and practical problem-solving, the camp brought AFF’s youth-development mission into focus: helping young people see themselves not just as technology users, but as potential creators of solutions.

With 20 participants recognised through personalised completion certificates, the programme marks a milestone in AFF’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of African innovators.

Two Tracks, One Innovation Mindset

The camp’s learning framework recognised that younger children and older teenagers need different approaches to technology education. It therefore featured two age-appropriate tracks:

Junior Innovators | Ages 9–13 Designed to build curiosity and confidence, this track centred on creative thinking, digital literacy, introductory AI awareness and responsible technology use. Its approach combined guided activities with teamwork, storytelling and simple problem-solving around everyday school and community challenges.

Young Innovators | Ages 14–19 The advanced track focused on innovation and design thinking, AI fundamentals, project management and entrepreneurship. Research, product ideation, digital collaboration and pitching formed part of a framework designed to help participants move from identifying a problem to developing and communicating a solution.

Connecting AI Learning with Practical Ideas

AFF’s collaboration with Kemon AI, identified as the programme’s Lead AI Learning Partner, placed artificial intelligence at the heart of the camp’s learning design. The partnership scope covered foundational AI awareness for younger learners and applied AI, including prompt engineering, creativity and productivity tools, and responsible AI for the older track.

The emphasis was on purposeful technology use: understanding what AI can do, using it responsibly and exploring how it can support ideas that address real needs.

A Journey from Discovery to Development

The programme was structured around four stages: Discover, Learn, Build and Showcase. This framework connected problem identification with core concepts, prototype development and presentation.

Project-based learning was central to the camp’s design. Rather than treating technology as an isolated subject, the programme encouraged an approach grounded in community challenges, collaboration and practical solution development. Mentorship and feedback were built into the delivery framework to support that journey.

Recognising Completion, Encouraging What Comes Next

The preparation of 20 individual completion certificates recognises the participants who reached the end of the programme. It also provides a concrete record of achievement from AFF’s investment in youth-focused innovation learning.

For AFF, the camp reflects a broader ambition: extending innovation support beyond established startups to the young people who may become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and technology leaders. Its focus on creativity, responsible AI and practical problem-solving aligns with AFF and Access Bank’s commitment to youth empowerment and digital inclusion.

To our completing participants: congratulations. Keep asking questions, exploring ideas and imagining what you can create next.

Innovate Today. Impact Tomorrow.
